Heel Pain
Heel pain can range from mild to disabling. One of the most common causes of heel pain is plantar fasciitis which causes pain and stiffness. At first, it can be mild and then become more severe without treatment.
What causes heel pain?
Heel pain can start off gradually and may be triggered by wearing a flat shoe with no arch support. It’s often caused by plantar fasciitis when the plantar fascia ligament (which connects the heel to the front of your foot) is damaged. Although these ligaments act as shock absorbers, too much pressure can damage the ligaments causing inflammation and pain. Other common causes include heel bursitis, tarsal tunnel syndrome or Achilles tendinosis.
