Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the ligament that runs from the heel to the tip of the foot. Pain from plantar fasciitis is felt on the bottom of the foot (i.e., the heel or middle of the foot) and is especially painful after long periods of rest.
What causes plantar fasciitis?
Plantar fasciitis occurs when the plantar fascia ligament (which connects the heel to the front of your foot) is damaged. Although these ligaments act as shock absorbers, too much pressure can damage the ligaments causing inflammation and pain. Factors such as being overweight, working at a job where you’re on the feet a lot or over-exercising can lead to plantar fasciitis.
